Supported living & small residential settings

Fire risk assessments for supported living

Supported living needs more than a standard assessment. The people living there may need help to recognise an alarm or get out safely, and staffing changes through the day and night. I'll assess the building and how it's run, and give you a clear report your team can actually use.

Questions providers ask

Does supported living need a fire risk assessment?

Yes. Fire safety law applies to the premises you're responsible for, and since October 2023 the full assessment must be recorded in writing. Commissioners and landlords will often ask to see it.

Do you look at residents' evacuation needs?

Yes. I look at how residents' needs affect getting out safely, and flag where individual evacuation plans are needed or need updating.

What size of setting do you cover?

Supported living houses and small residential settings. If you run a larger care home, get in touch and I'll tell you honestly whether I'm the right fit.

Do you fit alarms or equipment?

No. I assess and recommend, so my advice stays independent. I'll tell you exactly what's needed and you can use any contractor you like.
